The Drifters are what happens when a contestant decides the show is over and the island is just land now. Armed crews, no law but their own, holding ground because they took it and nobody's made them give it back.
They don't garrison a position out of orders — they live there. Walk into Drifter territory and you're not tripping a scripted encounter, you're trespassing on somebody's actual home.
